New Year’s Bash
New Year’s Bash, or NYB as it is affectionately known, is an event organised by ScoutLink UK that takes place every year. Although it is UK based (with past locations ranging from Derbyshire to Scotland), Scouters and Guiders from all countries are welcome. Due to the usually colder weather at this time of year, events are always held indoors, so you even get the Scouting luxury of a bed! Our users have travelled from as far away as Canada to take part in the festivities!
NYB is a very relaxed camp, and the programme is generally up to the people who attend. It’s normal for us to have a campfire and sing-song to bring in the New Year itself. We also like to have a late Christmas or party dinner to celebrate together. The rest of the programme might involve indoor activities such as crafts (we especially like pyrography, leather stamping and paracord knotting projects) or board and card games – be careful who you play UNO against, it might have disastrous consequences!
We also like outdoor activities like geocaching, exploring the local area, and sometimes going to a local site to have a look around. Recently a group of us went trampolining at Planet Bounce, which was great fun, and allowed us to act like the big kids we are! Whatever the camp involves, it will be fun, relaxed, and in a friendly atmosphere.
